Beretta 92F

Visions of owning a Beretta 92f have been playing in my brain since last friday when I saw one on consignment at one of the local fun 380 colt mustang . I only had time to take a quick look at it, because it was almost closing time. The Beretta 92 or M9 has been on my "To Buy List" for a while.

At $575 it was okay price for my area, plus it had Crimson Trace grips. So all week I've been trying to figure out a way to fit it into my gun buget. Because I had a Marlin 336 and a Norinco 97 on layaway there and a S&W 4006 on layaway at another Colt 1908 grip. Well I came up with a bit of extra cash so it'd fit the buget, so I head up there today and ask the gal to see it, good thing, in the better light of day (when I was there last, at night, the shop is really dark ) I noticed it had pretty good holster wear, so I asked if the owner was a LEO, the gal said yes, but only a reserve. The more I looked the stranger the wear patterns Beretta 92 fs . Worse yet the thing was caked in p93 ruger in every nook and cranny. I did a quick strip down and the p93 ruger was dirty. The more I saw the less I liked.

I hand it back and start to look for a Ruger Blackhawk in .357mag they had NIB, gone.

Then I notice a S&W model 59, chromed and the grip feels wrong.

Then next to the 59, under the phone on the counter, I see a nice Colt 1908 grip

The gun has loosened up a little bit and the finish is trashed, but it just keeps ticking. I had issues in the past with Kimber MIM breakage but this particular gun has gained my confidence as a fighting gun. I won't make some outrageous claim like it has never malfunctioned but malf's have been extremely rare. The malf rate would be far less than 1% if I kept track. I abuse this pistol and shoot dirty reloaded 230 gr RNL as my primary practice load. It rarely sees factory ammo since prices have gone through the roof. When training with it, the gun does not get lubed or cleaned until the day is over. Once again, it just keeps ticking.

I'd give an original Classic Custom a serious look. Instead of tearing right into it, you may want to shoot it a bit to see what really needs done. While I'm not the least bit against customizing a pistol (obviously), I think shooting and training, not the internet, should tell you what needs changing.

I think the best accessory you can buy for a relaible gun is practice kimber 1911 hand gun.

Colt 1911

I want to make something happen. I always try to be fair in my dealing. I understand FN is no longer going to import the Hi Power; take that for what it's worth in the effect on values.

Well I think I lost it. I offered to buy a Colt 1911 and Colt 1903 sight unseen the other day. The price seemed right so what the hell. Well the gentleman showed up with it and I bought it. I have to say I'm not a fan of nickle plating but it's growing on me.
I can't figure out the barrel set up. The barrel sticks out the front a half inch? It looks like a bull barrel with no bushing. The guide rod is a full length one in blued.
What should I do with it?
1) shoot the living tar out of it?
2) Find the proper parts and return to stock?
3) Is there a way to change the finish on this or is the nickle finish permanent?
4) Pimp it out with these?

Beretta 92

I had some of the cheap eagle mags from CDNN so I thought I would try them out in my XD and the hole in front on the eagle mags was in the exact place it needed to be and I filed the top of the hole flat and it worked just fine and in fact it worked better in my XD than my 92 because they would not feed HPs in my Beretta 92 but would in the XD. They did stick out the bottom of the grip a bit though. I am sure you could do the same thing with decent mags however with being able to buy hi cap mags for the XD that fit flush I am not sure if it would be worth buying mags just to modify but it is nice to know if you own both colt mustang.

Luger

I have allways heard how the lugers were replaced because they were just too hand fitted and over designed too many parts.ect.

Well it is a big known fact that the P-38 took there place,and it has 50 pieces including the Mag and only one screw(the grip screw).

The Luger has 40 pieces including (two screws grip screws) when you take apart the luger you will spend hours looking for the hammer,and wonder how the hell does the trigger make this dude Luger fire!

Then when it all comes to you it hits you like a bolt out of the blue,sheer perfection!

It wasn't about War production this pistol was made in 1900,it is and was a very great auto pistol!

It may not be a good war pistol,but it damn sure is a great pistol!

One must remember that many of the pistols were made in commercial grades(when no other autos were offered)and many Americans owened them.

Mine is such a 1920's model(7.65)probably owened by a rancher,dentist,or such!

My other German Gun is a P-38 non import German ruger p 85,not near as tight but you know this gun is nasty(may have been used p89 ruger us)!

But the Walther is no way a better made gun than the Luger!

It is my first Luger and God knows I wish I had never bought one,cause now I see a lot of Lugers in the ruger p 90 !

AR-15 Uppers

2. Support the barrel so that when we knock the pins out, we wont stress the barrel at all... I used a couple pieces of 2x4. Using a large AR-15 Uppers (~1/4") brass punch, firmly knock the pins loose. Use masking tape all round the FSB is you are worried you might slip and scratch something. I must admit... on most of the barrels I have done, a couple sharp hits with a punch knocked the pins loose.... but I finally had one Bushmaster 20" barrel that the pins absolutely would not come loose on. I ended up having to dremel the FSB down and then was able to punch them out, but I ruined the FSB. I was replacing with a flip up FSB anyway, so it wasnt a great concern... but keep this in mind, should you come across one that is not very friendly.

Ruger Vaquero

I bought this revolver new and have never fired it. It has been loaded only with A-Zoom ruger p 90 -Caps (not included) and has only been dry-fired with those in place. It is blued with the color-case-hardened frame and wooden grips (Ruger Item # 00546). It is NIB with all papers and a cable lock. This is the old-style Ruger Vaquero that is no longer made and it is in absolutely NIB condition.

Asking $500 shipped to your FFL SPF

FFL details: I retired my FFL years ago, so be sure that your FFL-holder is willing to accept shipment of this firearm from a non-licensed individual. Kimber Pistol

I'd take a hard look at one. My experience is that they are very good guns and aren't complicated by a FP safety system or an external extractor.

Strangely enough, my (pre series-II) Classic Custom .45 came with a "series 80" type firing ruger p 90 with the tell-tale relief cut. It is the original firing pin which came with the gun, from the factory. Possibly Kimber had run out of "series 70" firing pins and used whatever the vendor (McCormick, I believe) had available. Who knows?

I bought the gun as a "beater" and instructional tool. I got a decent deal on it ($500) from the original owner (friend and co-worker) who had shot about 500 rounds through it (200 gr SWC target ammo) before falling on hard times. I figured after the MIM started falling apart I'd rebuild it as a custom carry gun or work gun. Well, that was several thousand rounds of hardball and full-power RNL (and ever some ruger p 89 junk) and the gun is still ticking without any breakages. I've made a few minor changes to suit my kimber 1911 hand gun needs. The changes are

Colt 45 1911

I want to make something happen. I always try to be fair in my dealing. I understand FN is no longer going to import the Hi Power; take that for what it's worth in the effect on values.

Well I think I lost it. I offered to buy a colt 1911 part sight unseen the other day. The price seemed right so what the hell. Well the gentleman showed up with it and I bought it. I have to say I'm not a fan of nickle plating but it's growing on me.
I can't figure out the barrel set up. The barrel sticks out the front a half inch? It looks like a bull barrel with no p85 ruger. The guide rod is a full length one in blued.

Thanks and it's called the follower. I figured that I could cut the mag catch hole with my Dremel and I could probably sand down the follower as well to prevent it from breaking.

The shell-pivot thingy is attached to the pistol frame. I don't know the name of it... It helps the empty shells extract.

4. Disassemble the YHM free float... into the float tube, aluminum barrel nut, and float tube lock nut.

5. Insert the barrel into the upper receiver. Apply a little moly grease to the threads of the upper receiver.

6. Install the barrel nut, and get it snug (this should be tightened just like any other barrel nut, torque it to spec).... then tighten until you align with RUGER 10/22 next possible gas tube hole. Slip the gas tube in from the rear to ensure you are aligned:

7. Install the float tube lock nut. Thread it all the way to the rear, flush with the back edge of the barrel nut. I like to use a little blue locktite on this, to ensure it wont back off in the field. A little Loctite makes all the Aimpoint difference!

Ruger Vaquero

I bought this revolver new and have never fired it. It has been loaded only with A-Zoom ruger p 90 -Caps (not included) and has only been dry-fired with those in place. It is blued with the color-case-hardened frame and wooden grips (Ruger Item # 00546). It is NIB with all papers and a cable lock. This is the old-style Ruger Vaquero that is no longer made and it is in absolutely NIB condition.

FFL details: I retired my FFL years ago, so be sure that your FFL-holder is willing to accept shipment of this firearm from a non-licensed individual. Luger

I have allways heard how the lugers were replaced because they were just too hand fitted and over designed too many parts.ect.

Well it is a big known fact that the P-38 took there place,and it has 50 pieces including the Mag and only one screw(the grip screw).

The Luger has 40 pieces including (two screws grip screws) when you take apart the luger you will spend hours looking for the hammer,and wonder how the hell does the trigger make this dude Luger fire!

Then when it all comes to you it hits you like a bolt out of the blue,sheer perfection!

It wasn't about War production this pistol was made in 1900,it is and was a very great auto pistol!

It may not be a good war pistol,but it damn sure is a great pistol!

One must remember that many of the pistols were made in commercial grades(when no other autos were offered)and many Americans owened them.

Mine is such a 1920's model(7.65)probably owened by a rancher,dentist,or such!

My other German Gun is a P-38 non import German ruger p 85,not near as tight but you know this gun is nasty(may have been used p89 ruger us)!

But the Walther is no way a better made gun than the Luger!

It is my first Luger and God knows I wish I had never bought one,cause now I see a lot of Lugers in the ruger p 90 !

I want to make something happen. I always try to be fair in my dealing. I understand p 93 ruger is no longer going to import the Colt 1903; take that for what it's worth in the effect on values.

Well I think I lost it. I offered to buy a 1911 colt 45 automatic pistol sight unseen the other day. The price seemed right so what the hell. Well the gentleman showed up with it and I bought it. I have to say I'm not a fan of nickle plating but it's growing on 380 colt mustang.
I can't figure out the barrel set up. The barrel sticks out the front a half inch? It looks like a bull barrel with no bushing. The guide rod is a full length one in blued.

Para Ordnance p 10

I owned a PO PXT SSP.

I put 5 or 600 rounds down the pipe. The SA trigger was alright, but a little mushy with a bit of overtravel.

Reasonably accurate with no malfunctions (considering all their models use a ramped barrel, I expected Para Ordnance).

Here's where Para Ordnance and I part ways...

Upon field stripping the pistol, I noticed "pockmarks" on the interior of the slide. Not just one or two and they weren't isolated. The entire underside of the slide had these casting voids that varied in size.

I knew the pistol utilized a cast frame and sldie when I bought it. After my discovery, I detail stripped the frame and found evidence of the same (so it wasn't an issue with only the slide mold) although to a lesser degree.

Ruger Vaquero

I bought this revolver new and have never fired it. It has been loaded only with A-Zoom ruger p 90 -Caps (not included) and has only been dry-fired with those in place. It is blued with the color-case-hardened frame and wooden grips (Ruger Item # 00546). It is NIB with all papers and a cable lock. This is the old-style Ruger Vaquero that is no longer made and it is in absolutely NIB condition.

Beretta 92F

Visions of owning a Beretta 92f have been playing in my brain since last friday when I saw one on consignment at one of the local fun 380 colt mustang . I only had time to take a quick look at it, because it was almost closing time. The Beretta 92 or M9 has been on my "To Buy List" for a while.

At $575 it was okay price for my area, plus it had Crimson Trace grips. So all week I've been trying to figure out a way to fit it into my gun buget. Because I had a Marlin 336 and a Norinco 97 on layaway there and a S&W 4006 on layaway at another Colt 1908 grip. Well I came up with a bit of extra cash so it'd fit the buget, so I head up there today and ask the gal to see it, good thing, in the better light of day (when I was there last, at night, the shop is really dark ) I noticed it had pretty good holster wear, so I asked if the owner was a LEO, the gal said yes, but only a reserve. The more I looked the stranger the wear patterns Beretta 92 fs . Worse yet the thing was caked in p93 ruger in every nook and cranny. I did a quick strip down and the p93 ruger was dirty. The more I saw the less I liked.

I hand it back and start to look for a Ruger Blackhawk in .357mag they had NIB, gone.

Then I notice a S&W model 59, chromed and the grip feels wrong.

Then next to the 59, under the phone on the counter, I see a nice Colt 1908 grip

The gun has loosened up a little bit and the finish is trashed, but it just keeps ticking. I had issues in the past with Kimber MIM breakage but this particular gun has gained my confidence as a fighting gun. I won't make some outrageous claim like it has never malfunctioned but malf's have been extremely rare. The malf rate would be far less than 1% if I kept track. I abuse this pistol and shoot dirty reloaded 230 gr RNL as my primary practice load. It rarely sees factory ammo since prices have gone through the roof. When training with it, the gun does not get lubed or cleaned until the day is over. Once again, it just keeps ticking.

I'd give an original Classic Custom a serious look. Instead of tearing right into it, you may want to shoot it a bit to see what really needs done. While I'm not the least bit against customizing a pistol (obviously), I think shooting and training, not the internet, should tell you what needs changing.

I think the best accessory you can buy for a relaible gun is practice kimber 1911 hand gun.

Instructions

STEP 1: Fill or rent your SCUBA tanks from a reputable dive shop.

STEP 2: Ask where the shop compressor's air intake pipe is. If you find it sticking out of the shop's back wall, into an alley where cars idle their engines, go somewhere else.

STEP 3: Remember that air expands when heated ' never leave a filled tank in a hot car.

STEP 4: Store tanks in the back of a car during transport, always with the tank valve facing passengers. If the valve is damaged in transit, the tank will propel the other way.

STEP 5: Remove the rubber valve protection cap and inspect the O-ring.

STEP 6: Replace the ring if it is missing or damaged.

STEP 7: Attach the buoyancy compensator to the tank body.

STEP 8: Secure the regulator's first stage in place on the tank valve.

Anyone have one of these. I bought one at midwayusa and was looking forward to getting it in the mail. Well I got it and before I installed it I hosed it off with carb cleaner (non clor). After that I dabbed a LITTLE oil on it. I hosed it off because it was dripping with cosmo like substance. Anyway after I had it installed I noticed that the carb cleaner totally stripped the finish off of it. That is not what I am really complaining about.

The thing that got me a little ticked off is the fact that the whole damn thing is pot metal. This worries me because this is my go to gun. For a range gun it is fine. As far as the finish goes as far as I am concerned it is nothing that a little spray paint wont take care of. I think we all know how AR15 and strong pot metal is. I don't want this breaking at a inopportune time if you know what I mean.

I am going to be ordering some things from bushmaster tomorrow and they have tactical gun accessories as well. I was just curious if anyone here has one from them because I would like to avoid buying the same turd the second time around. Anyone know where I can get a good tactical latch at that is made of real metal and not some pot metal trash? TIA.

Well I think I lost it. I offered to buy a 1911 colt 45 automatic pistol sight unseen the other day. The price seemed right so what the hell. Well the gentleman showed up with it and I bought it. I have to say I'm not a fan of nickle plating but it's growing on me.
I can't figure out the barrel set up. The barrel sticks out the front a half inch? It looks like a bull barrel with no bushing. The guide rod is a full length one in blued.

likely approaching fairly soon. Some estimates of the number of legal off-list lowers making
it into CA are as high as 11,000 or more as of 3/10/06 - and the demand still continues. The
cutoff could be a few days or a couple of weeks. No one knows for sure, though we are pretty
certain this will happen.

There is just so much stufffffff available for the M16 family. You could accessorize like Imelda Marcos! That Baeowoulf looks like fun, a step up to a deer cartridge. Be ready to pay through the anus for your ammo, even if you reload. You could get a douple rifle case and carry both upper & rifle, all James Bond-like.

Model 601 barrels were made Winchester, six groove, 1/14, and broach cut. 601 barrels were turned down to a much smaller diameter in front of the front sight base then later barrels, such as used on the 602/603/604. They are Ar15 Gun accessoires with a single M, and at least one W. Some barrels have the old C in Square proof marking stamped near the breach. As with other early 1960's Colt barrels some have a sideways S stamp also.

At the SHOT Show this past February I got to see and handle the prototypes of the Helios High Intensity Discharge (HID) Searchlight. On display by the folks from Strategos International - a company recognized for its excellence and leadership in developing / training tactics for low-light engagements - the prototype Helios boasted a 3,500 lumen output in a package that wasn't much larger than the old 12V searchlights I first became accustomed to when I was a volunteer fireman. The production Helios, Model H1 as produced by Polarion, actually puts out 4,000 lumens in the same size package - and it does so for an incredible 90 minutes.

The expertise behind the design features of this particular HID light comes from two noted operators / trainers where low light environments are concerned: Mr. Ken Good (Ken J. Good), former Navy SEAL and owner/operator of Strategos International. The other significant individual is Mr. Vaughn Baker, VP of Strategos and a veteran SWAT cop.
